About Vivian Robenia Price |
|
Vivian Robenia Price was born in Waxhaw, North Carolina. She was drawing in grammer school. She graduated from Queens College (now Queens University of Charlotte) in 1943 where she studied Art History and Art Appreciation. At that time very few people majored in art. Later her love of art came to life while teaching primary children using finger paint, pastels, crayons, and tempera. During this period she attended many workshops (water color, oil) and spent many hours in museums in Dallas, Ft. Worth, Washington, and New York. One might say she was self educated with her study of art literature. Vivian later moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada where she had private oil painting lessons. (1957—1960). Several of her paintings are in her collection. Those lessons were at Cost House, the Calgary Art Center. After Calgary she attended the University of Texas at Arlington (Art Department) working with oil and water color. Her lessons were with well known Al Brouilette, water colorist. Vivian was lucky to have very kind, patient, and knowledgeable teachers. Vivian has finally decided after half a century of creating paintings to share with the public her collection. Going forward she is devoting full time to one of the loves of her life , painting. Her advice to her students was, “You don’t want to look as if the camera did it; you want it to be your style.”
